The regulations for live streaming on YouTube follow the same guidelines as Video on Demand (VOD). YouTube typically transcodes live streams, including various resolutions like 1440p, using the VP9 codec. Twitch, on the other hand, allows streaming directly from OBS but imposes a limited bit rate, usually around 8,000 to 9,000. In contrast, YouTube supports higher bit rates, going up to 50,000. Since YouTube consistently transcodes, it is recommended to utilize it extensively, especially in resolutions like 1440p or even better, 4k.
